Who really knows what they want for their life? When do the answers show themselves? For Prisca Philogene, the answer came at the tender age of 12. It was then that the Long Island native, and youngest of three, decided her future was in music. A strong minded visionary, she took it upon herself to find the tools which would allow her to strengthen her creativity, and pursue a life in music.
For Prisca Philogene, the answer came at the tender age of 12. It was then that the Long Island native, and youngest of three, decided her future was in music. A strong minded visionary, she took it upon herself to find the tools which would allow her to strengthen her creativity, and pursue a life in music.
After this revelation she found, auditioned for, and was accepted into the Professional Performing Arts High School leaving her home for the lights and sounds of New York City. There, under the tutelage of Professor Chantel Wright, as a member of the “The Songs of Solomon Inspirational Ensemble” she gained a greater appreciation for opera, classical, alternative and gospel music. This only heightened her appreciation for the other works she’d been exposed to as a youngster including the likes of Nas, Nujabes, Frank Sinatra, as well as the genres of Haitian Zouk, and Classical music. After High School, she went on to attend the Boston Conservatory, graduating with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in Opera.
Prisca has performed at various venues as a member of the duos Tranzette, and Private Reserve, as well as solo. Events and locations throughout NYC and Boston included Carnegie Hall (Choral Fest), United Nations Staff Recreation Council Aux Antilles Club at their Black Tie Cultural Fundraising Dinner, C’mon Everybody (LA VOZ/LEVELS), Club Passim, Basement Bar, and Sehiii NYC. All this preparation and training have lead her to find her own voice in the process.
However, no journey is without its detours. The sudden passing of a close friend tilted her view on life and this fueled Prisca’s fire to share her love and the power of music with others. Finding solace in her music and her faith has helped her realize that it was time to be true to herself, be present again in life, and dare bigger.
Believing in her art, and with a new sense of self, Prisca has taken the reigns of her career in hand and she is ready to share her gift. Writing, singing, and arranging all of her tracks, she produced an LP she’s is excited to share with the world on October 4th 2016.
Prisca will soon be on tour in and around NYC before heading out further and beyond.
